Mission Statement: The National Assistance Board is “to maintain the dignity of elderly persons through an innovative range of social support and recreational services which are accessible, available and acceptable, thus enhancing their quality of life within their communities”.
The Home Care Programme provides support primarily to the elderly, offering a high level and quality of service. All Home Care packages are tailored to a recipients specific needs and reviewed on a regular basis. The Staff work in partnership with families and other support networks to enhance the quality for service users, in order to maintain them living independently within the community. The service is free, with no financial obligation to recipient or family.

Purpose: To provide home-delivered meals to older shut-ins, incapacitated, and indigent persons, some diabetics and the blind.
- Volunteer drivers deliver meals five days per week, Monday – Friday starting at 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
- Referrals from Social Services and other agencies.
- A welfare Officer will visit and interview persons who have been referred prior to commencement of service.
- Some deliveries are free and for some a fee is charged, depending on the circumstances.

Meals Programme

Purpose: To provide a hot meal service to the poor and to older persons who are house-bound.
- A hot midday meal Monday – Saturday 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. Some Sundays 11:00 a.m.
- A delivery service is carried out to homes (house bound older persons) on Monday – Friday11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
- Food hampers are presented at Christmas.
- Persons are referred by the Welfare Department, other churches and community groups.
- Persons in need of service may contact the Welfare Department.
- No fee for service.

- Discounts with many businesses on a wide range of goods and services island wide when a valid BARP Membership Card is presented.
- Education, health and wellness programmes are arranged for members on a regular basis. There is a yearly calendar of social events.
