Doris Goodman loved travelling in her younger days. She has visited Canada, England, and Australia.
In 1951, she moved to the United States where she worked at a major department store in New York called Gimbels for 26 years. Doris eventually became the head of the hosiery department. She also worked at the Modern Dress Shop in Barbados.
Doris had no children but enjoys a strong bond with her sisters Daphney Dickinson and Pauline Goodman with whom she plays card games daily. Their favourite game is called Skip-Bo, which requires a bit of addition and subtraction. This, she said, kept their minds active.
