Emmeline Stoute was born in St. David’s Christ Church and attended South District School.

She held several jobs throughout the years, as a babysitter, nanny and cook for Dr. Basil Springer and finally as a shop assistant at the former Super Centre Supermarket on Bridge Street from 1976 until her retirement in 1982

Currently residing at Bottom’s Close, Wildey, St Michael, Emmeline was described by many as a people’s person.

She never married but had five children.  She also has 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grands and 14 great-great-grands.

Grandson Kamal Stoute described the matriarch as very strict.  “She was strict with what she did, but I am the man I am today because of this lady,” he said.

Emmeline is an active member of the Joris Dunner Day Care Centre and enjoys word puzzles and dances whenever she hears good music.

In fact, daughter Betty Mason said her mom went on a cruise for her 102 birthday and her dancing moves were the “talk of the town”.
