Ethel Hoyte (nee Sargeant – also known by many as Mrs. Mayers) was born on November 27, 1913. She lived at Parris Hill, St. Joseph. She was a domestic worker (cooked for Pan Boilers at Andrews Factory for over 30 years). She was married to Gordon Hoyte who died in 1965. Mrs. Hoyte was the mother of 13 (nine are still alive). She was an active member of St. Anne’s Anglican Church up to 1994 and was a member of the Mother’s Union for several years. Her hobbies were cooking and reading. Her favourite foods were rice, fish and chips and ground provisions (especially yam).
