Rosetta Alberth Best affectionately known as “Tanty” was born in Charles Rowe Bridge, St. George. She was educated at St. George School.   

In adulthood, “Tanty” moved to St. Michael and worked as a shop assistant at Maxwell’s Shop, one of the early, wealthy, shopkeepers in Barbados and as a domestic servant for the McKenzie family who resided at Kingston Terrace and the Armstrong Family, Cave Hill, all in St. Michael.

Ms. Best also supplemented her income by selling snacks outside Charles F. Broome Memorial School.

She was never married and had no children.  However, she was the adopted mother of many relatives.

Ms. Best was a devout member of Mayers Road, Pentecostal Church, My Lord’s Hill.
