Vera Elaine Gibbs-Gooding was educated at Belmont Girls’ School. On leaving school she attended music lessons, where she learned to play the piano, but went on to learn the art of dress making  Thereafter, she worked as a shop attendant.

In the early 1950s, she opened her own shop in Suttle Street, The City. Later, in the early 1970s, she opened a shop at Crab Hill, St. Lucy, from where she retired.

Ms. Gibbs-Gooding was the mother of five children, and a very out spoken lady. A devoted Christian, who believed and trusted in God, she attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

“I want to see my Saviour face to face”, was her strong conviction. Ms. Vera Elaine Gibbs-Gooding departed this earth at the age of 101, on September 22, 2016.  Thank God for His gift of long life to her.
